History:
- Carl August Grenser initiated his instrument-making career as an apprentice to Johann Poerschmann in Leipzig before establishing his own workshop in Dresden in 1744. Karl August Grenser, along with his nephew Johann Henrich Grenser, continuously refined and modified their flute designs over time.
- In addition to flutes, Grenser demonstrated his versatility as an instrument maker by crafting clarinets, basset-horns, and a bass clarinet. Several of Grenser's flutes were crafted to allow historically accurate tunings. These instruments were renowned for their bright and crisp tonal quality and were adaptable to various tuning.
