About Us
We are a family upholding the legacy of excellence and craftsmanship passed down by our great grandfather, Mr. Hakam Din. He was a skilled wood-tuner and crafted his first bagpipe in the 1890s, a masterpiece now enshrined in the National Museum of Scotland, Museum of Piping.
Mr. Din's passion transcended bagpipes, extending to flutes and clarinets. His eldest son, a prodigious talent, broadened the family's repertoire from bugles to sousaphones within a mere 30 years. Following in his footsteps, the second son crafted drums and string instruments, each stroke of genius resonating through generations.
The art of handcrafting musical instruments courses through our family's veins, passed from heart to heart, and generation to generation. Our experienced elders thoughtfully shape instruments, infusing every piece with precision and attention to detail. Simultaneously, the younger generation lends a helping hand, learning this cherished art, ensuring its continuity for future generations.
Each instrument that we craft with the name 'Hakam Din' tells a story and serves as a testament to our unwavering commitment to quality and the same old timeless style of craftsmanship.
"As our journey unfolds, we remain devoted to honouring this legacy, aspiring to craft melodies that endure for lifetimes," once said by the late grandson, the great Mr. Pasha of his time 1945-2021.
"Starting a business is hard and statistics tell us that most startups don’t make it past the first few years," said Joe Lamond, NAMM president and CEO. "Through sustained effort and relentless focus on serving its customers, "Hakam Din" has achieved this milestone. NAMM is proud to recognise Hakam Din's accomplishments and wish it many more years of success in the future."
NAMM, the trade association of the $17 billion international musical instruments and products industry, awarded "Hakam Din" the Milestone Award in 2011 for 100 years of service in the music products industry. The award recognises manufacturers who have succeeded in business to reach this landmark anniversary.
"It has been a long journey for Hakam Din that has today culminated in this special moment for the Hakam Din family and the art of crafting musical instruments," said Jamal Pasha, Hakam Din’s great-grandson.
"The Milestone Award was received by Mr. Jamal and Ms. Fouzia, great-grandchildren, on behalf of their father, Mr. Pasha, the grandchild of Mr. Hakam Din, at the NAMM Show in Anaheim, California, USA—an annual music products trade show that attracts more than 85,000 professionals to see the latest music products, attend professional development seminars, and network to grow the global music products industry.
