This clarinet is a reimagining of a Viennese maker Theodor Lotz basset-horn scaled in the key of F. It sounds a 4th lower than the normal B-flat clarinet.

Theodor Lotz is associated with Anton Stadler, who was Mozart's first clarinetist and for whom Mozart composed several works, including the Clarinet Concerto.

This clarinet is ideal for basset horn parts where the extended range is not needed, such as the basset horn part of the Mozart's Requiem or the basset horn part of the Gran Partita.

It's actually got the same, very simple key system as the 5-key clarinet with the speaker key, throat A key,  Ab/Eb key, F#/C# key, and E/B key but being in F and having a length of 89 centimeters, the F/C which is a hole on a 5-key clarinet, would be too far away so there is a key for that as well, also a throat trill key was added.

It is tuned in A=440 Hz but can be played with change of barrel in A=430 Hz.

This clarinet comes with 2 barrels, case, extra set of pads, extra reed mouthpiece, cap and ligature, cleaning cloth, carrying belt which can be hooked to the thumb rest and a fingering chart..

The body is made of Indian Cocobolo wood with imitation Ivory protection rings.

Please note: Waiting time is 30 days for this clarinet.
