Carlos Palanca ca. 1765 Turino, Italy - One of the finest examples of Italian 18th Century flute making, he died at the age of 95 in 1783. The Palanca model is the most reproduced old flute in the world and there are less then 25 original Palanca flutes known today.
It plays A=440 Hz, by opening up the slide it plays down to A=430 Hz. It plays A=415 Hz with other middle joint as it comes with 2 middle joints.
With excellent playing qualities, perfect embouchure hole, this flute is made of Indian Cocobolo wood. The protection rings are made out of the wood itself.
The Palanca flute can be described as a universal Baroque flute that covers a large spectrum of flute repertoire including music by Vivaldi, Händel, and Bach. While it shares many of the sound characteristics of early 18th-century flutes it provides much of the facility of the classical flute and is an ideal flute for those experienced concert flute players wishing to take up the Baroque flute.
